Treatment of complications
People who have already developed complications as a result of Chagas disease should seek medical care at a clinic or hospital, where the doctor will recommend individualised treatment for their symptoms.
There are many types of specific treatment ranging from measures as simple as a high fibre diet or taking laxatives or heart pills to others as complex as, in a few rare cases, a heart transplant.
In patients in whom the alterations are still in the early stages, it is also useful to treat the Chagas disease. When cardiac abnormalities have reached an advanced stage, the specific treatment for these complications is all that is recommended.
